TWO VISITORS IN ONE DAY

Yes, when I walked to the barn this morning I found Jack Frost sprawled all over my lawn. I wasn't ready for him yet. I haven't seen September go by, just a blur... I guess I was ready after all since I harvested my peppers, thank goodness, speaking of which I managed to prepare my sweet peppers for the freezer this morning. I had a photo of the four ZipLock bags  filled with small bags of chopped peppers but my battery was loosing power and did not upload on my computer.

Those hot peppers will have to wait until tomorrow to be processed in bottles hopefully

I also managed to scrub the milking parlor  like I planned and it took me all afternoon even though my husband came to help me with the power washer. The hired hand usually scrub the parlor with the power washer but it doesn't do a good job like elbow grease. I scrubbed and scrubbed until the job was done and it was  calf feeding time again.  It feels so good to see the milk parlor clean.  I checked on my pregnant cow and she is feeling the birthing pain but still hasn't calved the poor thing.

Coming back to this morning, I was late getting out of bed, like I was awake but paralyzed and just lay there until I looked up and saw 7:30 on my clock. I jumped out of bed and straightened my bed and did the morning ritual in a hurry and went to the barn while my husband snored away. Breakfast will have to wait.

I was still at the farm finishing up when he showed up and told me that he met a MOUSE  in the house this morning on his way to the kitchen.  He went one way and the mouse went under the stove. My reaction... NO!  A MOUSE IN THE HOUSE???   OH MY GOD!... Sorry Lord...  I couldn't believe it. How did it get in the house??? I'm ready to catch it. I'm armed and dangerous where mouse is concerned. I'll set the brand new traps tonight before I go to bed. I have to be smarter than the mouse and think like a mouse. I will trap it on its path. They walk along the walls usually.  This is the time of year where they search for accommodation. I'll accommodate it all right.

After supper my husband went to church and I went to get grocery and now everything is all unpacked and packed away and now I can't wait for my quality time with my computer friends.

My husband dug up the potatoes all by himself yesterday because  I was busy cleaning the floors at the barn and now the back of his legs are sore. I didn't help planting the potatoes either because we don't eat enough to bother planting some but because a friend gives him  some potatoes to plant every year he feels obliged to plant them. And it's like the squash, he planted too much... I took a photo of that too but like I said my battery lost power.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment.  JB

  1. You need a CAT!!!
I'm guessing that Mouse is a pretty serious offense, but I am getting a big chuckle out of the story. I think that little guy better watch where he walks or he will be SORRY! LOL!!!

Your peppers look nice. They will come in so handy this winter. We still have a few green beans and turnips, but that's the end of the garden. No frost here yet, but it won't be long now.

We got home too late last evening for me to comment on your post yesterday. Your rug looks great. The little children sledding are very nice!

  2. I love your days! I wouldn't love a mouse in the house though. When we were tearing out part of the garden and the field mouse would go running one way and I would run the other way. I kept telling myself to not run but I did anyway. I hate mice. I hope you have some cats. It sounds like you worked hard cleaning your milk parlor, take some pictures of that, I don't know what that looks like.
Your peppers are gorgeous. I cannot believe ole Mr. Frost showed up at your house. Our temps will be 94 by Friday. Then we get a cool down.
no frost until November. I am tired of flies so it will be nice when Mr. Frost comes here.
I bet you sleep good at night.
I enjoy your visits so much.
I hope your Wednesday is great.
P.S. I continue to pray for your new grandson and the rest of your family. :)

  3. Lol I had a mouse at the cottage awhile back. I went into full attack mode with the baddest, meanest traps I could find. Good luck hunting.

  4. You are one busy woman.
Peppers will be wonderful this winter, in all the soups and stews. I use them often in stir fry's.
We have had a couple frosts, but no freeze yet.
It is 58 degrees this morning in good old Warsaw.

  6. Hopefully you caught the mouse! I can't stand those things...I have to clean every inch of my kitchen if I see one near there. I usually use those ones that Victor makes one that kills effectively and seals it inside so you don’t have to even see it. Plus, it keeps any disease-carrying parasites safely inside and not infesting your home. http://www.victorpest.com/store/rodent-control/m265#desc

  7. Thanks for your comment Bobby Bradley. I caught the mouse that very night and disposed of it. It came in while my husband had the basement door open for the time it took for him to bring in the potatoes.

I used a small wooden Victor mouse trap and cleaned up where the mouse was caught and surrounding area. Lets hope that there won't be another mouse looking to settle in my house. JB
