LITTLE BY LITTLE

I've been at it again today. I got more cleaning done in my overgrown flower beds. I didn't do any weeding but just cut the old dead growth from this year's flowers.  I have 12 flower beds plus two rose bushes and 4 other peonies free standing flower bed, and a vegetable garden to care for plus the lawn. We had four large maple trees removed last year so it's saving me a lot of work with the leaves in the fall and the wing seeds in the spring. I love flowers so much  that it's it's a real pleasure to spend time weeding but I have difficulty keeping up with the weeds. That is where I feel closer to God and nature.

I no longer have to buy perennials to fill my flower beds. Instead I divide and conquer. Since the last devastating flood in 2008 I've inherited so many weeds  because all my flower beds were under water for over a week

In this garden I had a beautiful Bridal wreath  Spiria that bloomed in the spring and it got so big that I  finally cut it down and lost it in the last flood.. I'm thinking of replacing it. There are some tulips from last year that I hope will bloom again this spring.

This double flower bed needs fixing too, There are some narrow steps that needs widening where you see the bricks askew. The cleaning is just roughly  done. I'll use the leaf blower to get rid of the small debris.

This one is on the left side of the front of the house. My foundation trees were overgrown and I had them removed and couldn't afford to replace then after my run in with cancer. I just divided my Astilbe and Bleedinghearts and Hosta. It looks bad when the plants dies but it's beautiful when they are growing.

This is the right side in front of the house. Here I grow assorted Hostas.

In these wire gages I grow Peonies. The dead foliage has been removed but the weeds are still there.

In this bed I grow Sundrops, Phlox and lilies. It's over crowded too.

On this side of the house I had two windows added and had to have my two trellises removed . I have some clematis growing and a whole bunch of stuff. I cut down one clematis and the other is still hanging from the chimney. I thinks that it enough for today. I still have 5 other flower beds to clean. It's like trying to remember  my age, I have a hard time remembering haw many flower beds I have.

I cleaned that island bed on the left side of the path and actually cleaned the flower bed on the right too but the sun was not high enough for a good photo. I'll try again tomorrow. I hope that you did not get too tired of looking at my lifeless flower beds.  I'll show them again in their full glory in the spring and summer.  JB
