Fingers crossed it will hang in a little longer. I too love the front loader, as I child we had a wringer washer & can Iaugh now but didn't then when all the shank buttons flew of as my housecoat as it went through the wringer. lol Appliances in general just last 10 years now, job security for those making them? Whirlpool is Maytag now!! I don't own a washer and dryer now, but when we moved to Vermont, Joe and I bought a cheap Kenmore washer when we moved into our house during our remodeling "phase"! We intended to replace it with a nice washer-dryer set when the remodeling was finished..! However, 21 years later, I still had that washer which was plugging along!!! I think we replaced a belt or something once. And I never did have a dryer for 21 years ether...we just never got around to buying that washer-dryer set. LOL (I hung everything outside on the clothesline in warm months and hung clothes inside in winter on a drying rack in front of the heaters or wood stove! For us, it worked well as with just the two of us, we did not have a lot of laundry!!!)
That's my "back to the past" story and I'm stickin' to it..!! lol
Hugs, Sunnie :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6876827638819064500.post-28722683478990353672014-06-11T11:06:03.924-03:002014-06-11T11:06:03.924-03:00So sorry about your washing machine! I went out & bought a cheap, very basic washing machine.....it was awful ! There wasn't a lint trap & all our clothes, including undies came out of the wash covered in lint ! I went out & bought LG washer ,but have a plain old fashioned dryer. I LOVE my washer, but after all my trouble, I am afraid to wash wool ..... I don't want to damage this washing machine. I have never washed wool in any of my washing machines....I'm afraid to. The dryer came from a store but the washer came from a guy on Craigslist. Every now and then it leaks--and every couple of loads, the spin cycle doesn't remove the water so we have to run spin twice. I think things just aren't made like they used to be. My husband said his mom had the same washer and dryer the entire time he was growing up--20 years or so. Those days are probably gone. The only bad thing is, we can't get a washer and dryer easily in and out of this house because the doors are too small!Stephanie Farishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10461865229341760836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6876827638819064500.post-18199562099055195502014-06-11T10:37:08.358-03:002014-06-11T10:37:08.358-03:00They don't make machines to last anymore, Juli...They don't make machines to last anymore, Julia. My first set had been my parents washer and dryer from when I was a kid, it was a Maytag that last maybe 40 years. When we moved here I finally had to buy a new set. I bought a new set but nothing as nice as what you bought. I do not like buying appliances. I would use a scrub board though. I hope you get yours soon. 15 percent tax is just crazy, Julia.
