I don't know why Canadian and Americans celebrate Thanksgiving on a different days but one thing I know, we should be thankful every day of the year for all we have and not only on a special day of food festivities at harvest time.
My list of thanksgiving is long so I'll spare you... and shorten it to this....
I'm thankful for all my very large family of brothers and sisters and my parents, ( may they rest in peace), who have instilled in me many values that have made me who I am today, my husband and my own family of 4 kids and their spouses, 7 grandkids and my great grandchild and not to forget my many close friends I have made over the years, way too numerous to mention here.
I can't forget my Rug Hooking Daily friends and also my blogger friends and secret followers. They also add spice to my busy life. I'm truly blessed...
When I was growing up, I would have never dreamt that one day I would have so many friends to share parts of my life with as I was raised in a very small country place.
I almost forgot I'm also thankful for computers, yeah. I truly am..... it makes me reach across the globe for dear friends.
To celebrate Thanksgiving here are some photos of the little grandkids my daughter Christine sent me last evening. Thanks Christine...
James and Daniel with an other kid in the wagon at the pumpkin patch.
I think Daniel is examining a corn kernel up close.
Daniel posing in front of the pumpkins, so many to choose from.... don't you just love that little smile?
Daniel first ride on Oreo the Pony. Daddy is making sure Daniel is staying on. It's still a big pony for a little boy...
I think Daniel love this green wagon.
James is enjoying being here with mama and is ready to play in the corn box.
Playing in the hay is really fun. You should try it sometimes.
Playing in the corn box is even more fun than playing in a sand box, don't you think. It's more colorful for one thing...
James dosen't know which pumpkin he wants to choose. I'm sure he's picked several for dad to carve for Halloween. Dad is a master pumpkin carver.
James is big enough to really enjoy a ride on Oreo the pony. I can tell by his satisfied smile.
Daniel knows how to drive this huge tractor but his legs are too short to reach the pedals.
James has mastered the art of peeling apples for mama's famous apple pies.
He's watching with keen interest how mama rolls the dough...
A perfect circle. My daughter puts me to shame, such a perfectionist...
Christine told me that James helped dad deliver an apple pie to the neighbour and James told them that their dog could also have a piece. How thoughtful...
Happy Thanksgiving blogger friends in Canada even across borders and oceans...
Thanks for your visit and for leaving comments. I really am thankful for you all.

Well... I'm certainly thankful that you share pics of James and Daniel with us! They always make me smile! And yes, I love that smile on Daniels's face in the pic with him in front of the pumpkins! :-) I am amazed with Christine's ability to roll crust dough into a perfect circle too! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
ReplyDeleteThose pics really show the best of this season...pumpkins, Apple pie, and a super cute family enjoying it all! The boys are getting so big! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Canadian thanksgiving but here in USA we celebrate it to commemorate the first thanksgiving meal between the Native Americans and the pilgrims. Yes, we all have a lot to be thankful for i.e. that we live in a relatively peaceful country with no wars, pandemic, famine or other hardships other nations seem to have. Without this what would our lives be like? Certainly no happy family or homes...I pray everyday for peace and harmony among all of us including no animal cruelty or unnecessary tearing up of land for personal gain. Happy thanksgiving to our neighbors, the Canadians :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. Wonder why we celebrate on different dates. I would like it earlier and not so close to Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe boys look so much alike. Daniel has one of those innocent little smiles. Love the pumpkin patch. I am hoping to go tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
Hope you had a good week-end. hugs
Happy Thanksgiving Julia! Your grandsons are so very cute, and growing up so fast!

ReplyDeleteHappy Thansgiving - a little late - Julia. Looks like you had a wonderful day. Sarag
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all of those photos of the boys. You are so special Julia, I am glad you have so many things to be Thankful for on this day.
ReplyDeleteI almost wish we could have Thanksgiving in October, it would sure make fall seem longer.
I hope today is a wonderful day.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Julia!! Like you, I am grateful each day for all my blessings. I hope you had a wonderful day. Our Thanksgiving is still over a month away. Loved all your photos, especially the ones with the boys playing with the John Deere trucks. We have four grandsons-ages 7,5,3,2...and they LOVE all their John Deere toys.
ReplyDeleteDear Julia,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the advice regarding the media and my boys. The boys just finished a Current Events unit, and I think it was too much with all the illness, Ebola, and kids getting sick.
Here at our house, I only listen to the news about 15 to 20 minutes or my husband will share with me something. Otherwise I have Classical Music playing.
We did talk with our boys after the unit was done, told them we have to keep our eyes on Jesus. Satan wants us to be scared, but we have to keep our eyes on Jesus and stay strong.
♥
Thank you again for the special comments.
I love your post today, it was just what I needed.
Love, Carla
We are all so blessed to have met you here in blogland…I always look forward to coming and seeing what you are you are up to….
ReplyDeleteDaniel and James are so cute and what wonderful memories you captured in the pumpkin patch…When they are older, these pictures will become even sweeter….
Hugs, Nancy
I have been away from blogging for weeks! just saw your update, Julia… what a great family you have. James and Daniel are such big boys! Love watching them grow ~ what a lovely mama Christine is ~ I didn’t know women still made crusts from scratch. So convenient to run in buy a ready made one …
ReplyDeleteI do remember those smells from my childhood of pies cooking FROM SCRATCH. It is curious about the different Thanksgiving celebration days. Might google and find out why ! Ours is celebrating harvest time and sharing a meal with our hosts ~ the Native Americans .. but the date? I dunno
Charlie went to the pumpkin patch also and rode horses … he is really into this riding horses business… Stephanie bought each of us a pumpkin and we decorated them.
She put them on the front porch ~ it stormed … no more decorations! so funny …. she used the washable paints so Charlie could get paint wherever AND he did … So! we get to decorate them all over again…
Loving this Fall weather we’re finally having yesterday and today ~ just gorgeous. So tired of that HOT HUMID stuff… just hate that kind of weather ~ just zaps my old energy.
Charlie was found giving Diggity (cat) his food ~ no wonder Diggity follows him about… LOL.. ahhh me kids and animals .. so precious
Yes… you are a very blessed person, Julia and you’re blessed because you give blessings …
Happy belated Thanksgiving to you and yours ….
What wonderful heart warming pictures. Those little sweeties are sure growing. What fun they are having and what great memories are being made. We all have so much to be thankful for every minute of every day. Very nice post sweet Julia! Hugs and Happy Thanksgiving!
