Most of trees are bare now around here. Just the sturdier one have some leaves still hanging on. The sky is gray and and the air is damp. There used to be all kinds of birds in the backyard and this past week, I noticed fewer birds. So I dicided that it's time to give them a helping hand again as the colder weather returns and put food out for them.
I took apart one of my feeder and and scrubed it clean, filled it with small black sunflower seeds and hung it back on the hook. Now I hope that the regular birds returns to the feeder. The large gray squirrils are so destructive, they have destroyed many of my feeders even when I hung them the in the middle of the windows. They would try until they would find a way to jump on them and chew the base until they were useless. Notice the path to the barn cutting through my back yard. I thought many time to plant some day-lilies on each side then I thought that it would be more work for me.
This is 4 of my wire compost bins that I filed with debris for the flower beds. Each ones are about 4x4x4 feet so that a whole lot of dead garden debris. I used to mulch it to reduse the volume and speed the decomposting but I damaged the old mower I was using when I ran over a piece of metal bar that was partially hidden in the ground near the barn. So now I just let nature take her good old time.
Today I weeded half of the vegetable garden in between rain drops and kept asking Jesus to please hold the rain until I was finished and it would stop sprinkling and as soon as it started again I asked again to please hold the rain back and to give it to those who needed it more than us and it would stop. I did this five times and each time the sprinkles stopped. As soon as I came in to wash my muddy hands to go to the barn, the rain started.
I and was going to take a photo of the vegetable garden half weeded but had to rush back to the barn.
I hope that everyone enjoys the weekend. Thanks for stopping by. JB
