Yes, it looks and feels like spring is finally here after we survived a rough winter.
I could hear robins announcing they were back and saying to put extra feed for them but I didn't see any and I didn't had time to stick around to see them but I've been waiting for them.
Most of the snow is gone except some big snow drifts in the shade. George sprayed some wood ash on the snow as fertilizer this winter so it looks pretty dirty but I hope it will benefit the lawn.
That's one flowerbed I won't have to clean. No petals yet but lots of promises. I have a few flowerbeds still under the snow around the yard.
This tiny flowerbed in a sheltered corner of the house isn't doing well except in the middle. where the daffodils is growing well. The corner gets too dry and the clumps are getting smaller every year. So they will be pulled out in the fall and planted elsewhere but the larger clumps will stay there.
Daylilies are starting to poke through and I have over a hundred clumps to clean out hopefully this week.
This bed is cleaned because I dug it all up last fall and some daffodils are just poking through.
I cleaned this bed a few days ago and some tulips are poking through.
I have a few flower beds that were cleaned up last fall but the majority were left as is.
I'm so grateful for warmer weather and the birds returning. Soon the grass will grow and the spring bulbs will bloom. I noticed the maples are budding. This has been the hardest winter ever for me, even harder than going through cancer.
It's hard to believe Easter is this coming Sunday and some of the family will be here for Easter dinner. Hopefully I will remember to dig out my camera for a post. We will remember Nicole as she will also be here in spirit.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Wishing you all a HAPPY EASTER if you celebrate. Enjoy the long weekend...
Hugs, Julia

I am so glad spring is arriving finally. I love seeing all of the flowers peeking out in the spring. Your flowerbeds look great Julia. I hope you have a lovely Easter. I am having all of the local kids here too. I know you will have a nice Easter.
ReplyDeleteIsn't spring such a gift. I love the new growth finding their way through the old. It really makes me want to get out and clean out all the old leaves and stalks so the new growth doesn't have to work as hard. You did a good job preparing yours, they look so good! Hopefully your snow will continue to melt - in a hurry - ours is finally gone seemed like it was a long winter for everyone.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Easter and I'll be looking forward to a post about it :)
I'm so sorry that winter has been so long and cold (and sad).
ReplyDeleteGod be with you as you celebrate this Sunday.
You and Kim at Field of Dreams are the two best garden workers I know!
Sending heaps of love, kind Julia!

Hi,
ReplyDeleteIt is so fun to find that the flowers are saying "Hello Spring" :-)
We planted tulips for the first time this past autumn. We are excited because we only lost 3 of the bulbs. So we have a nice tulip bed of 25 tulips. :-)
Sorry, dear Julia, I missed this post!!! It is always such a delight when you post. I am glad your Spring is finally arriving and you will soon have beautiful flowers from the bulbs! Sending you hugs xx
