AT LONG LAST, A RETURN VISIT ON PATRICE'S PORCH

It's been a while since I visited Patrice on her porch.  I visit her blog once in a while  when time allows. I haven't linked with the CHATS ON THE FARMHOUSE PORCH at EVERYDAY RURALTY. because I have to hand type all the questions and I unfortunately, I'm a two finger typist, lol.  My MacBook Pro laptop will not open the file folder with the copy and paste script. It will open the photo files and not the script file and I don't know how to rectify this.
I visit all my followers who leave comments on my blog first and if time allows I visit the other blogs.

I've been wanting to join the chat for some time but haven't had enough time.

I hope that Wendell will still recognize me and will come by to say "Hay, got a carrot?"

Here's are Patrice's questions for this week:
1. Do you eat eggs? What is your favorite way to serve them?
I like an omelette with fresh mushrooms, red peppers, onions and swiss cheese. I like eggs cooked any ways but it has to be well done. I can't stomach eating any part of it raw. Those little  would be chickens have to be well cooked, just knowing where they come from... I've been like this since my last pregnancy, 38 years ago, lol...

2.Do you have a favorite item that you really like to have around? (a Pillow,a chair, a sweater, a teddy bear, etc)
I'm not attached to anything in particular except my favorite  fine black ink ball point pen. I like my pillow but I can sleep without it as long as it's completely dark in the room and there's no noise or movement.

3. Is most of the furniture in your home dark wood, light wood, painted, lacquered or distress?
I have light and dark and everything in between.

4. Please fill in the rest of this sentence. I could write a book about -------------.
I could write a book about living on a family dairy farm. It's a very demanding job 7 days a week with early mornings and late nights sometimes.

5. If money and Calendar/ family obligations weren't an issue, would you prefer to spend next weekend at a Bed and Breakfast, a posh hotel, a cabin in the wood or on a sailboat on a calm body of water?

With money not being an issue, I would prefer spending the next weekend right here at home without having to go to work or cook for others. I would enjoy simple rest and relaxation by the warm wood stove hooking away and only eat when I'm ready. I don't mind cooking yummy food for myself when I'm not in a rush and sipping on some nice GEWURZTRAMINER wine. It's too cold to be on a sailboat next weekend because the river is frozen solid. A gust of wind might be quite an adventure on the ice, lol...

I want to take this opportunity to thank my new followers and hope that you will feel welcome on my blog.
Stay warm and safe.
JB

  1. Good evening Julia, I enjoy when fellow bloggers visit Patrice's Porch, it gives "us" their followers a little more insight into their lives. I know you are a very busy lady with a most demanding job, I bet the minutes to yourself are few and far between. But I am so happy you find the time to share your life with us...Blessings, Julie.

  2. Ah it has been a while since you've visited her porch. I think you should write a book about your dairy farm.

Never much thought about it but I don't really have anything either to want around ... well? you know I do have the greatest throw ... it has kept me warm many nights in Homer. It's a ... I don't know what kind of material ... very soft and fleecy but not not that valoury type ... hmmm

yep.. I wouldn't like being without my blankie..

My favorite omelet is fresh mushrooms, spinach and swiss cheese... oh, yum

I hope ... I would LOVE to hear you write a post about a do nothing relaxing at home with all your stuff about you with your GEWURZTRAMINER wine weekend. ;)

  3. You could bring your wine to my imaginary cabin in the woods. I promise I won't cook runny eggs :)

  4. Funny...I agree with you on the runny eggs. After helping many many chicks be born and seeing that yolk sack I need a well cooked egg. Love your answers, I would love to be in a cabin in the woods right now with warm weather; we are freezing here. 1* this am.

  6. Wendell and I are so happy to see you on the porch again! Horses have incredible memories. I like your choice of omelets. I prefer a fine black ink pen too, but I'm always losing pens. "The curse of the runaway pens!" I hope you have a great week!

  7. I love eggs. Especially the ones I get each morning out of the henhouse.
Our choice of furniture is eclectic. Our floors are barn wood, and our bed belonged to Jilda's great-great grandmother.

  8. Home is my favorite place to be and you can never go wrong with GEWÜRZTRAMINER. We have some of the best grown here in WA state by Columbia Crest winery.

  9. I lived on a dairy farm for a couple of years. I know the kind of work there is..24/7..no holidays. I loved the answer about your furniture. I have a little of everything but most of it makes me happy. Especially the family pieces I am lucky to have.

  10. I'm with you, Julia...home is always the best place to be! A nice hotel with room service and housekeeping is nice, too...love it when someone else does the cooking and the cleaning! But I think I'd pick a cabin in the woods...birds singing and the smell of pine...ahhhhh.
    Take good care my friend,
    Robyn

  13. Mamoo. I think I can help you out with the copy/paste issue you are having. You shouldn't have to type it all out. I would be astonished if there was not a way to achieve this. Next time I'm there I'll sort you out.

    1. Thanks tired adult, I would appreciate this very much. There is also the issue with my header photo file that needs to be resized to fit the header.
Blogger keeps changing things and it's hard to keep up with it.

    2. I see that your banner photo is rather "petit". I'm sure this is also readily solved. Not sure when we'll be out to the farm next, but just remind me and I'll fix that for you too.

  14. Your answers are fun because it gives more insight into who you are. You should write a book about farm life..look what it did for Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummand) who writes her blog about ranch life and then published cookbooks, children's books about her dogs, and now has a food network show. I could say:"Hey, I knew Julia when she was just a sweet blogger!"

  15. your first answer reminded me something about my grandmother. Until the day she died she hated fried eggs. She told me she got sick when she was pregnant because she used to fry eggs for my grandfather. She couldn't stand the sight of them after that.

  16. I am with you my eggs (when I do eat them) have to be so done that their almost burned. haha
Love when you take the time to chat about yourself like this I always enjoy reading about you.
I had to laugh about the spin on the lake though. Your right it would be quite the adventure if you were in your neck of the woods on a ice covered river or lake.
Wish you were here with me this week we are having warmer weather which in Texas you never know if its going to be freezing or you need to turn on the air conditioner. Today it was in high 70's and I raked and mowed leaves. Yep hard to believe. I know you don't need to hear this when you had to deal with the frozen pipes in the barn.
Girlfriend you work way to hard.
Take care and please know I am thinking of you
    Love

  17. I enjoy these visits you have with Patrice on her porch. It seems like I often visit your blog when you do this. I love to compare how I would answer the questions as to how you answer them.

I got pretty hungry when you mentioned the mushroom and egg omelet. It sounded pretty darned good. I didn't eat much dinner, so now I am a wee bit hungry.

If you ever do write a book, I would love to read it. I'm sure it would be very very interesting, as I am just fascinated how you manage to do all of that and still hook rugs too. I should think you would be so tired when you finish a days work that you wouldn't want to do a darned thing. You are much younger than I am, but even at your age, I don't think I would have had as much pep and energy as you seem to have. I just hope that it doesn't catch up with you one of these days.

I got a big kick out of your comment about your furniture. A little bit of everything makes for comfort, I think. I'll bet that your home is very comfortable indeed.

I am with you on that weekend. I would love to just spend a weekend at home without having to do one lick of work.......just rest, rest, rest. I wouldn't answer a phone, even. Wouldn't that be something? Oh well, I'm afraid it would never happen here. We are way too busy on weekends.

    Very interesting post, Julia......love ya......Darlene

  22. Hello Julia - you have some lovely needlework here. I was fascinated to read about your grand daughter's taxidermy skills - how amazing! the results were really good. Nice to have found you on the Grow Your Blog hop. Betty

  23. Fun reading your answers, Julia. I love that, given the choice, you'd stay right there at home, by the fire, enjoying your crafts :) A girl after my own heart (although the bed and breakfast, and the cabin, and all those other little trips sound fun, too).

  24. Hey girlfriend were your ears ringing today because I eas telling a girlfriend about you.
you are too funny. In answer to your questions my work load will be probably about the same. The worse part is my boss will be around 24/7 and she is a worker and likes everything perfect and done now.
Don't know if I will meet mr right or not but I will keep an open mind about it. Lol
Just keep me in your prayers that I will make the right decisiin and I will do like you and start aa pro and con list. The biggest con is I know I will have no privicy or me time with her living right out my front door.
    Take care stay warm
    Love

  26. Hi Juilia. Thanks for stoppping by and for the information about the diet coke. I have been hearing about the bad stuff for a long time esp. from my mother. I have wanted to stop drinking it but I enjoy it too much. Now it just tastes awful. I am thinking it is a good thing. I even had a diet 7up and it was awful as well. Very weird. But since it is't going to bother me not drinking it right now I might as well. Wonder if it could be causing the numbness going off of it. Oh who knows. It certainly couldn't hurt me. Thanks.

  27. I'm in full agreement on the whole egg issue. They must be well-cooked and certainly benefit from the addition of mushrooms, peppers and swiss cheese!

    Blessings, Debbie
