When my daughter Christine was here for Christmas she asked me for the salad dressing shaker she had bought me the Christmas before. I told her that I hadn't used it and frankly I had totally forgotten about it since I had tucked it in the cupboard way back then. Christmas time gets pretty hectic for me...
I searched in the cupboard and found the shaker and she wanted to show me how slick it makes salad dressing. I opened the shaker and as quick as a wink the little heavy ball flew out and rolled under the fridge. We both tried to retrieve the ball with all sorts of contraptions, but try as we may, we just couldn't reach it from it's hiding place.
Today I remembered about the lost ball and I had the idea to bend a metal coat hanger and see if I can retrieve it. In a few seconds I had the ball out from under it's hiding place.
This is a pretty neat gadget and my daughter uses her all the time. I'll be using it too since I don't eat bought dressings unless they don't have soy by products.
I might have to wait till the price of lettuce goes down to try my new found ball. lol.
It took me a long while to come up with that idea of using a coat hanger. My mind is slow but I guess it still works.
Thanks for visiting. Please leave me your comments, they cheer me up.
Hugs,
JB

Under the fridge...under the stove...under the washer...all hard to find places for the little gadgets. And then all the dust that comes out along with those gadgets, at least at my house! Oi!
ReplyDeleteYeah. It reminds me of the shake bottle I have for protein shakes. It has a wire round like whisk ball that mixes the shake . I didn't know there was such a thing. Works great.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the advice. I hate taking meds I just purchased oils and when I am up to it going to figure out how to use them. Hugs
You are a McGiver for coming out with the wire hanger idea. I Love you sister.
ReplyDeleteI will look for that shaker as I just started making my own dressings. However, I live in the mountains of East Tennessee so may have to wait until I visit my daughter in the big city. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteyou're too cute. :) hope you get to use it soon!
ReplyDeletethat looks like it works slick. I think I would wash by hand though.

Well, that's a clever kitchen gadget - have never seen one before! Glad you've got all the pieces now and can give it a try!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteGood for you!!! Now you can be a mover AND a SHAKER!! Sorry!! I just couldn't resist!!!! I'm so happy you found it too!! There is nothing worse than losing something and not being able to get it!
Enjoy those homemade dressings!!
Warm Hugs~
Julie
Oh well done for managing to get it back!! I hope the gadget gets lots of work outs.x
ReplyDeleteShare a recipe with us once you start to use it.
ReplyDeleteBalls seem to be a hot blog topic...lol!
Hugs :)

Lol, after Lauren's post I wasn't sure where you were going with this. Haha. That looks like a great gadget. Never seen one before.
ReplyDeleteDang, I've not seen one of these things and will have to check out the local grocery stores. Doubt they have anything like that but will check anyway.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, That's a cool contraption.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen one of these, we have a bottle with a sort whisk thing attached to the lid that you mix manually and keep in the fridge.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you found the ball. This is a new gadget to me. Now I am very interested to see you using the shaker to make salad dressing.
ReplyDeleteCoat hangers are handy. I've used them for all sorts of tasks. I used one to the door of my old Chevy when I locked the keys inside.
ReplyDeleteBut a fetch for collecting things from under the fridge was an original use that would have taken me some time to come up with.

How cool that is, I am glad you can use it now.
ReplyDeleteI always make mine too. Have a nice day Julia
I'm glad you retrieved the little ball for your "Jamie Oliver shaker". It is super easy to use.
ReplyDeleteIt is basically a closed mortar and pestle. It smashes peppercorns to pepper in seconds!
Yea! George would have helped you. He loves balls of all kinds. He is a funny little dude. The salad shaker looks very handy. We love to make our own dressings. We can control the ingredients, and that is healthier. BIG HUGS!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, your cat has the same name as my husband.
DeleteHugs back at you Annie.

Ha!! Our new kitten loves balls. He has a few as toys and he has them under everything. Each time I have to dig one out, I get some dust bunnies too, so I guess I am cleaning at the same time. ;-)

I've never seen a salad dressing shaker like that before... looks like it mixes it up good!
ReplyDeleteSounds like my house, things eventually turn up, but mostly after I've bought a replacement or 3!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like that but I'm sure you'll enjoy using it. Is lettuce expensive up there? I've been using a lot of fresh spinach instead of lettuce or mixed with it. I'll keep my eye out for that cute gadget! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo i must be behind the times, I've never seen a shaker thing like yours but I"m glad you found it with your great coat hanger idea!
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Valentines day Julia!
Glad you finally figured out a way to retrieve the ball from under the fridge. That looks like a handy little gadget. I make my own salad dressing sometimes so I may just have to see if I can find one of those shakers. Hugs
