NEW AGE IS DANGEROUS AND I'M BURNING MY BOOKS

What a strange title you might say and you may be right but I'm not the only one who is burning her books. Here is my story. I don't expect you to agree with me but this post is to make you aware that so many like me have fallen in the New Age trap without realizing the dangers because it's disguised as something so good and it is so widespread.

I may not have any followers after this post but I feel that this is important enough to post anyway.

Besides heating the house, the wood stove is a great way to burn those New Age books on cold days.

You can come to your own conclusion after you check out these truths. Satan has one goal in mind and it's to steal our souls and the souls of our children, grandchildren, and everyone. It's not surprising that marriage breakup and divorce rates are high and people are entering unions without the vows and the family breakup.  All that is not from God.  It's from the devil.
He will use subtle deception to trick us in all in our weakness or interests and no one is spared, and we are not even aware because we think its good for us. Satan has no peace or real happiness to offer but only eternal damnation and torment,  that's the bottom line.

I have been a truth seeker for a long time as truth has always been of great importance to me. I'd rather look like a fool and take my punishment than to tell a lie.

I've always tried to help and encourage people when I can and support them in their struggles. It causes me pain to see people in need when I have so much and also to see people or animals suffer. I have my own struggles and I'm deeply flawed and I'm certainly far from being a saint, my husband will tell you... but I pray every day and ask Jesus for guidance and protection for myself and my love ones. By His grace, he pointed me in the right direction and it's like a veil of deception has been removed from my eyes and happiness, peace and hope has returned to my shriveled heart. I've been reading the Psalms in the Holy Bible and it has been a balm to my soul.

My interest in New Age started quite innocently enough when my husband and I were introduced to Healing Touch Therapy by a friend that my husband introduced me to and we were so impressed by the results that I even took the first level of Healing Touch Therapy Course but since the rest of the other levels of the course were offered in another city about 5 hours away and I would have had to travel by myself and pay for accommodation for the duration of the course so I put it off to later when I would be less busy.

In the first level of the course, I was introduced to the chakras, healing stones, the pendulum, auras, energy work, all done in love and caring, all of which seemed pretty amazing. I could hardly believe that I actually could move another person's energy and I could feel it in my hands. I was interested in taking the second level of Healing Touch Therapy and was given a very long list of New Age books to read for the next level so I acquired a library of New Age books over time but never took the course probably because I was so busy and was also intimidated to have to travel and stay away from home for this and the cost of it all, but I read books that seemed to have all the answer for healing.

Oprah Winfrey frequently had New Age people on her show and I was interested and I would buy their books, after all, we were coming into the age of information.

Quite by accident or by the devil's plan, I came upon The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner and bought his books and the whole webinar on CDs. I even made a blog post about the book. I listened to his free webinars on my computer and for the duration, he had special guests that were all New Age with tons of seemingly good information to improve every aspect of one's life.

Last Fall, I bought two books by the author of The Law Of Attraction but by now I have forgotten the name of the other book and even the author.   As I settled in my bed to read The Law Of Attraction, I asked God, should I read this book? Does this book contain the truth? It didn't feel right... I got an uneasy feeling.  After reading the first few pages, I threw it in the wastebasket and thought, what a waste of my money. I could have returned it but instead, the next day, I picked it up and put it on the shelf where it stayed until a few weeks ago.

I picked up the Law Of Attraction book from the shelf and opened it but did not read it and again I had the very same weird feeling about it, something wasn't right. I picked both books by the same author and without hesitation, I threw them in the garbage bin.  I wasn't going to give it to anyone to read.

I went online to check this out and came upon a youtube video  New Age is Dangerous Law of Attraction and there were a lot of other similar testimonies about why people had to leave the New Age movement after their lives were spiraling out of control with demonic possessions and all sorts of out of body experiences. New Age was promising them hidden wisdom, healing, love,  inner peace, and financial success but instead, after a while, their life became tormented instead of peaceful and serene, they just lived in darkness and despair.

I came upon a Youtube video by Steven Bancraz entitled Proof The New Age Movement is Satanic and another youtube video by the same author, From New Age To Jesus, then another youtube by a lady,  Ex Witch Reveals Connection between Yoga and Satan. I googled "List of New Age Practices" and found a list by Doreen Virtue, entitled A-Z List of New Age Practices to Avoid and Why. It was published on January 21, 2019. It's like I was opening up a can of worms. So many people being deceived by New Age and leaving New Age for Jesus.

Doreen's  list was long and I was not aware that things like Yoga, Reiki, Acupuncture, Healing Touch, Chakras, Energy Healing, Feng Shui, Horoscope, Harry Potter, Hypnosis, Meditating,  Peace sign (upside down broken cross), Vision Boards and many others including Law of Attraction were all from the occult, like Tarot Cards, Witchcraft and Ouiji Boards.

Doreen Virtue left the New Age Movement at the height of her career. She was a prolific New Age writer and teacher with over 40 or so books published by Hay House and is now warning everyone about the danger of New Age. Doreen Virtue tried to have all her books taken from the shelves but the publisher refused to do it or their hands were tied... So she went on social media to ask for forgiveness and warn her readers about the danger of New Age and many of her readers have taken her advice and destroyed all their New Age books. After leaving New Age and turning to Jesus Christ, her life became peaceful and happy and meaningful.

There are lots and lots of testimonies about possessions by evil spirits from ex-New Age people so it's not to be taken lightly.  Oprah, the most influential woman in the world, worth  4 Billion dollars is totally immersed in New Age and rolling in money but at what cost? What price does she put on her soul?  Do you think that she's happy? Another youtube video, by Steven Bancarz, Oprah's New Age Christianity Dangerous Heresy. Her perception of reality is certainly not congruent with the Holy Bible.

I'm sorry for the length of this post, and if all this seems extreme to you,  but in reality, it is.  I had no idea about all the different practices that were listed, were considered New Age.  The New Age movement is rooted in the occult and polytheism and it is forbidden in the Holy Bible. The occult is from Satan, the father of all lies and the great deceiver. We don't need New Age, all we need is to read our Holy Bible and turn to Christ. I take great comfort from reading Psalms in my Holy Bible daily now. It brings me comfort and healing.

I did a lot more research and I had enough information to make an informed decision to burn all my new Age books. I will only share parts of my research here but with even only these, you can come to your own decision. We cannot serve two masters. If we serve the wrong one, we lose our soul in hell for eternity but if we serve Jesus, we have eternal life.

Like I said, I don't expect everyone to agree with me at this time,  but I feel it is for the good that I'm doing this. I will never say, May the force be with you but May God bless you.

Thanks for reading this long post and for leaving a comment if you wish.
Spring is right around the corner but seems to be getting farther with the latest snow storm. 34 days to Spring.

Keep safe and warm.

  1. I hope Spring comes quickly for you.
And no, I don't agree with all of your post, (I view yoga for example as a helpful therapy) but it is definitely your right to hold your opinions and act accordingly.

  2. Great post Julia! I had no idea you had become so deeply involved in that stuff. I know its shocking when you find out what you liked is off base. Its happened to me. I am so glad you have found the truth. Take care. I am very proud of you. Change is always hard.

  3. There are a couple of things you include in the New Age stuff that are ancient: yoga and meditation. And maybe something else that I missed. Those two are absolutely not new as they were practiced in ancient cultures long before they came to the West. And I do not believe in putting other cultures down. As I'm sure you don't either. I also don't believe in Satan or that someone like that has any power over us. I think that is a very dangerous belief. I believe in the goodness of man, of course I am often disappointed, but I will not blame it on Satan anyone other than the individual in question. As you do, I believe in prayer and I pray most every day. And I agree with you about most of the other things you classify as New Age. I have never had any use for those things.

    1. On the matter of believing if the Devil or Satan exist, as a baptized in the name of Christ Catholic, I believe that Satan exist because he is mentioned by the name of Satan 47 times in the Good News Bible and 40 times as Devil.

I'm going to side with what the Bible says because I value its teaching. For me, it's not a matter of opinion but a matter of faith that Jesus, the Son of God does not lie or lead us astray. Jesus is the Truth, the Way and the Life and I believe what he teaches.

All these scriptures can be found online in the Bible Gatewy concordance.

  4. That is an interesting perspective. It is too easy to get carried away in the "now thing". It's great that you listened to your gut in this one and was inspired to make changes.

  6. Julia this is a great post. I'm a Christian and know for a fact Satan is trying his hardest to reap souls. I'm glad you listened to what you were feeling and took action. I am an active person fitness wise and know the benefits of a healthy body. I like to got to the gym and also do yoga. Yoga for me is stretching, strength and flexibility. I don't dive too deep into the whole meaning of it and actually I just really like the warm floor. Sometimes I feel like I could curl up and take a nap while everyone else works on their poses haha.
Thank you for this post, it's a great reminder to stay true to oneself
    Hugs!

  7. Thanks for having the courage to share from your heart! I know there are a lot of things out there that are very misleading, although I haven't done much research on them. God bless you! And...may spring come quickly!!

  8. I guess a lot of us are trying to find "The Answer" to our spiritual questions. I've never personally delved in to the New Age practices, they seemed too much like hocus-pokus to me. Thank you for posting your experiences. I'm still going to be one of your followers!

  9. Thought provoking post. You have obviously done much research to come to your conclusions. I agree that Satan is trying to bring us down.
I will not unfollow someone because of their beliefs.

  10. I agree! Burn them. Jesus said, I am the WAY." He didn't say, "I am A way."
    Good for you, Julia.

  11. I only believe in myself. There are opposites to everything in our universe i.e. good/bad, hot/cold, dark/light etc., etc. I don't go outside of my feelings of what I determine is good and what is bad. I don't even believe totally in any religion. To me all religions try to sway you into a certain type of 'they way is better' type nonsense. What you do is the only way. We were given a brain to decide how we want to live good or bad. We make our choices and live with it and sometimes we can change our minds as in this post. Julia was swayed into believing new age is a good way but by her own choice she has decided to live her own way. Good for you Julia. Don't let ANYONE brain wash you under the pretense of being a Christian also. They also walk in cloaks of sheep skin i.e. being racist, being hateful, and many other bad things all the while going to church and praying.

  12. I agree that we are free to make our own choices because God gave us this freedom. I am thankful for that freedom... He gave us the ten commandments to follow but if we chose to not follow them, it will be our damnation.
However, God will always invite us to come to Him. That's why He gave us Jesus to show us the way. We go to church not because we are perfect but precisely because we are sinners. Jesus was mocked , beaten, belittled , yet He did this because we are sinners and because He loves us all. Jesus love the sinners but not the sin.

Because we are all flawed and sinners, we continue to go to church to be reminded that we are sinners and we need the forgiveness and mercy of God and to have hope and keep our faith alive.

Yes, church goers are sinful just as those who don't go to church. Church is especially for sinners and not for perfect people. Perfect people don't need God, they only need themselves.

Luke 15:7 ( it says) In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine respectable people who do not need to repent.

  13. Edit: Jesus was mocked, beaten, belittled and crucified until he died for us. Surely, he didn't do that for nothing. He did that out of love to save us from damnation.

  14. Politics and religion...the two things that get folks fired up! I applaud your convictions and your love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I also believe you need to follow your gut and do what's best for you. I don't dabble in New Age stuff but I have to say that yoga is beneficial to many with health an mental issues. I would never unfollow you! I enjoy your posts and your hard working ethics. This is your blog, your forum. Being a witness for God and Jesus is a good thing and many don't have the courage to testify of that. On another note..I can't stand Oprah Winfrey. I used to enjoy her when she first started out on Chicago TV. I don't think celebrities should be using their fame to sway people to that celebrities viewpoints. She does that all the time. Anyway, take care and enjoy your weekend and your dreams of Spring..I'm with you 100% on that!

  16. I don't have any New Age books nor do I participate in any of the practices. Many years ago I ended up in a church that was more like a cult. I began seeing red flags and began seeking truth. My life totally changed from misery and bad to wonderful after believing and accepting that Jesus Christ died for my sins. I have found peace and happiness in serving Jesus Christ and I am confident that I have found the truth. Love hugs and blessing to you sweet Julia...you have not lost me as a follower. I am back on Blogger if you want to follow me click on my icon and you will see the link at the top of the page. <3

  17. Julia, I am quite concerned reading this post and hope you are OK. I disagree with a great deal of your post but understand you need to express your opinions and beliefs. I practice Yoga a couple of times a week and Harry Potter movies bring me great joy. Take care

    1. Hi KB, thanks for your concern. Like I said, I don't expect people to agree with me and in addition, I'm not judging those who don't see things as I see them.

I am actually feeling a whole lot better since I left the New Age way of thinking and Joy and Contentment has returned in my life. Contentment is a big reward for me. I feel at peace, I sleep like a baby, I get up rested and feel happier than I have in a long time. All my tension is gone and all my ache and pains are gone too since I turned over my life to Jesus. Burning my New Age books was the best thing I did in a long time.

I did yoga ages ago and was going to start again, but I have
watched these youtube videos and did plenty of research before I made my decision. I stand 100% behind my decision.

I doubt that anyone has watched the youtube videos that I have underlined in my post, as they explained the reasons why I made my decision to leave all that stuff behind and as I had expected, no one viewed the youtube videos. But there's is no regrets on my part.
      Take care, hugs, Julia

  18. Julia, this a good post for discussion. Everyone's perspective is pondered, evaluated, and in the end we come away with more questions to be discussed. I've read again the post and some of the comments. In the end I believe you have replaced your new age books with utube and other books that have swayed you a different direction. I see easy manipulation on someone's words. I wouldn't rely on someone's books, utube or opinion completely. I listen, I read but in the end I make my own choices...not on the bible, not on books I've read, and certainly not on Utube. What was your original thought before all these books including your recent return to the bible? What made you stray from your original thought? Just curious. I take Yoga as an exercise tool...nothing else and I watch Harry Potter for entertainment...nothing else. I remember I bought my first paperback Harry Potter ages ago before anyone knew Harry Potter and before movies were made. A friend said to me 'You're going to buy the book that's ben banned by the church?!' I told her it's just a fairy tale book like Hansel and Gretel or Snow White & the witch. Good post Julia. It makes us all think.

  19. Hi Rita, thanks for your comment. I'll try to answer you to the best of my ability. Sorry, this is going to be rather long.

You ask," What was your original thought before all these books including your recent return to the bible?

I believed in the Holy Bible and I thought that I was a good person and that I always wanted to do my best to help people.

When I got the first stage of Healing Touch, I thought that God had opened a door for me to help people through Healing Touch. I got interested in acquiring new knowledge that I must have in order to take the second level.

By reading those books, it did not made me a bad person but it opened up the gateway for evil spirits to creep into my life, baby steps at a time. It was so subtle that I didn't noticed it. I had become unhappy and angry and had lost interest in a lot of things.

I began to noticed something was wrong when I picked up the book The Law of Attraction and started to investigate it online. There was a youtube video that stream in my youtube page called "Proof The New Age Movement Is Satanic" by Steven Bancarz that was very revealing to me, so I kept watching other related youtube videos that were streaming on my youtube page.

You see I did not stray from my original thought to do good but when I recognized that had been tricked by Satan, I turned to Jesus to change my life and the moment I turned to Jesus and ask for forgiveness, in an instant, my anger, frustration, hate all disappeared and I felt joy, happiness, peace.
I hope this answer your questions. It's difficult to express my thoughts in the small comment box.
    Hugs, Julia

  22. I'm not your follower, but after 18 years being in the New Age, I have a similar experience. I'm completly destroid inside and out. I only finally realised the mislead only two months ago, although lots of signs were given to me in the last year. I have demons inside me. Not one or two but several. So this is real, we have a spiritual war among us. I guess deep inside I always knew something was totaly wrong that from time to time I kept saying to my self "I need to read the bible". Like you I started with the true feeling of wanted to help others, so I became a Reiki Master, and the rest, well it just followed. Now I've return to Jesus and after ten years of not sleeping well, last night it was the first night that I slept well.
A word of advise to those who say Yoga is just a tool. Do your own research about it's background and after that do make your decision. Studies nade say that regular stretching has the same Benedita as yoga and it's not connected to the worship of a Indu deity.
I also remover all new age books and other stuff out of my house and since I started that process I have a peacefull house.
I pray that God may guide you and peotect you and your loved ones.
    Many blessings to you all.

  25. Thanks for your comment on my blog, Julia. I actually read this post a couple days ago beforee I wrote my post. It helped me organize my thoughts on the matter. The Lord confirmed to me that I was being ked by Him to speak to the person I know and tell her the truth. These things are dangerous and we must speak up. I also appreciate the commenter above who stressed that yoga is not just a tool. So many seem to take it too lightly.
