A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS

As my dear son in law commented on my previous post, I thought that I would tell him the reason behind my  statement. I just want to set the record straight about my poor angel stone wall and my daughter's picture.

It may not be the Palace of Versailles  I agree, but it needs to be torn down just because of the structural damage. A stone wall is very heavy load to support.
Work began in the fall of 1976 and we moved in in our new home on April 2nd 1977. So I've lived here thirty four and a half years. There was nothing wrong with the wall before the big flood except for the fact that it wasn't my favorite wall. However, since the last big flood we've had some structural damage. As you can see on the pictures there are some big cracks, some are going all the way up yo the ceiling on the left side and smaller cracks right to the fireplace.

The chimney is not used because of a damaged liner in the fireplace and this could pose a fire hazard and we've been talking to installing a gas fireplace later on.

As for my daughter's picture, it was a gift from her which I cherish and I've been wanting for a long time to put it up on a suitable easel to be displayed in the corner. I never gotten around to it because I've never shopped for one except that I've kept my eyes opened for one to suite my taste.

I'm sorry if I've offended you by hanging a mirror where the picture was hanging but pictures can be moved around and I do move that picture around a lot with the change of the seasons. There's a good reason for my action. A mirror reflects light and that's my story and I stick to it. lol...

Thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment. Have a super weekend everyone. JB

  2. I like the picture too and I move my pictures all of the time. I think as the days begin to get darker as winter comes on the mirror is a good trick. I have even put strands of twinkle lights up on my wall unit because the dark gets to me so much.
I hope you have a nice weekend as well.

  4. What a lovely photo of your daughter. Mirrors are a wonderful decorating tool, reflecting light and also making a room seem larger than it really is. Have a wonderful weekend, Julie.

  6. I get it....and being a woman, you move things as often as the seasons. The picture is gorgeous and you'll find the perfect spot and I bet it won't be a place to hide a crack. Mirrors are the perfect accessory, big enough to help hide things and bright enough to attract more light to faded areas. Good luck with your wall...we all need a change once in a while not to mention repairs!!

  7. Julia honey if your not happy with the wall then you try and change it. Moving a picture from time to time is what all home owners do. I just told my friends last weekend if my family didn't read my blog I could really be the crazy woman that I really am but since my sons read it I am not writing like I want to.

  8. The wall will come down in due time. The crack is really rather disturbing. But I used to love the brick wall. I would run my finger along the grout tracing the pattern. I never realized that you had wanted a different look. Maybe this time you will get what you want!

  13. Ji Julia, Blogger and I have been at odds for so long but I am going to try again to leave a comment.
I think with the cracks in the wall it could be dangerous. Time for a change. Perhaps you can get the look you want this time. As for moving the picture, women move things all of the time. I have just been working on a wall that was blank and lining it with family pictures. Done in a random way it is very special and I love it. Hope you get your wall.

    Happy Halloween!

  19. So glad you are back. So glad your daughter helped you and you still have your followers. You know why, You are one of the hardest working woman I have ever seen in my life. I would think by looking at you, you are my age and I am 53 or maybe even younger. So you are only as old as you feel right.
I still think you look like Meryl Streep. :) Only prettier.
Well, if you get to get in the house and by the fire earlier that is good right?
So glad you are back, now all is right with the world.
