GOD DID NOT PUT A POST ON MY LAPS THIS EVENING

Today has been rather busy and the hired hand came back to work this afternoon so I made a seafood chowder for supper and baked some Pillsbury Apple turnover for desert. I just wasn't feeling all that chirpy today and thought that it would be a change. I usually bake from scratch.
I had no idea what I would write about and maybe under such circumstances I shouldn't blog . I'm feeling myself to be a bit boring  at times.

I just finished answering my emails and checking blogs after working on three months of  HST                   ( Harmonized Sales Tax) for the farm. There are so many transactions that happens in the course of three months and we pay 13% sales tax on everything we buy for the farm and then we get a rebate back from the government after we file the tax claim.  It's a tedious job that I really don't like but have to do, just like the Pay Roll deductions from the employees that we have to remit to the Government for the 15th of each months. If we're late they penalize us. Thank goodness for on-line filing and banking.

Today I went to get my flu shot, picked up some calf feed, gas up the car and did some banking and paid for my two widows. Of course it was more expensive than I thought it would be.  But at least I'm still appreciating the life giving light that comes through those widows.

I'm hoping that everyone stay safe from the flu. Kim from Millie's Mat is down with it and my thoughts are with her, her auntie and mom.

  1. Hi Julia,
I hope you get a good night's sleep and feel more energetic in the morning. I just can't imagine how work it must be to have a farm, not only taking care of the land and animals, but all the mountain of paperwork that is required nowdays.
    Have a nice weekend!

  3. Good morning Julia,
Sorry you are not feeling up to par. Please take care of yourself, we all need you. Your blog is an important part of my life each morning and I'm sure others feel the same way. Lots of work to take care of a farm - if you get down who will take care of those calf babies?

  5. Good morning everyone, I had a pretty good sleep although maybe not enough but I feel a bit more rested. I think that there is so much left undone like cleaning the car, the garage, the compost bins, the flower beds etc that I'm not used to leave things undone and it bothers me. Every time I can find enough time it's raining or it's cold. Enough of complaining. I'm going out to clean the car. JB

  7. Hello Julia, thank you for your sweet words, Your cat sounds like he was wonderful. Well, now I am glad you wrote about what HST was, I didn't know.
I was reading a article by Stephen King once and he said that people love reading about work, the more detailed the better. He said, when you put working in your writing people like it the best.
I know I sure like reading about just the day to day things you do, like just cooking for the hired man.
I hope you get back to feeling better soon. It is so hard to not be 100 percent.

  8. Thanks so much Kim (Farm Girl) I still don't feel well today but I'm forcing myself to feel better. I did labor on my own last evening as it seemed the words just weren't there. I sat there and my fingers just didn't seem to move. Usually the words just flows. It took me for ever it seems just to come up with that post. Maybe God is letting me know how much I depend on him? Have a great day Kim and again I feel for the lost of your faithful companion who no longer will follow you around the pasture. Hugs, JB
