I think that the time to return to blogging is finally here. I seem to finally have more spare time. Life got really busy and I got myself very tired... and then it was the old slow computer woes, the old car problems, shopping for a new vehicle, getting the house ready for the Merry Maids prior to getting family visitors and being sick for a whole month, getting a new computer and having all the pipes frozen in the barn and all the bad weather etc.
In early December I got sick with a very bad cold that lasted over a month and it left me totally exhausted. I'm finally feeling my old self again. I've noticed the daylight time is getting longer and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I'd had been having some security concerns and other small issues with my old and new my new computer and when I got my son in law, Bill to take a look at it yesterday, he got everything to work as it should with some minor adjustments here and there. I had even stopped commenting on blogs because my computer was telling me the blog sites I was visiting were not secured sites. I think it's a Blogger issue as so many blogger sites are no longer secure. The regular blog sites I was visiting no longer had that little green padlock icon with https:// at the top of the page and it made me nervous.
Here is the little padlock that I'm talking about at the top of the page. it used to show an "i" icon instead of the padlock and when I clicked on the "i" icon, it would tell me that the site was not secure and how many cookies were there.
To secure my site, I went to Settings and clicked.
For an unknown reason, my https was set on no and I have no idea how that happened. I clicked on that little arrow and clicked on Yes and I got my blog secured again.
And that's my little blogging for today.
I hope you are all coping with this unusual winter without too much trouble.
Stay safe and well.
Hugs, Julia

Oh my gosh Julia you have know idea how relieved I am to see you back - I was getting worried about you and had no other way of contacting you other than blogging. You truly have been on my mind lately. I get being busy it does get crazy when winter sets in. I'm so glad we've had a mild winter and didn't have to deal with cold weather issues. It is scary in computer land when things aren't secure so I'm happy you got it all worked out - I hope my site is secure. I'll have to check on that. Sorry you've been sick. I also am on the down slide of a cold. I blame the kids I work with haha. Anyway hope you keep getting stronger every day and thanks for letting me know you are back in action!
ReplyDeleteA BIG hug,
Saimi
I am glad you are feeling so much better and now that you have a new computer and a new car. That is so good. I have missed you too. I didn't know about the security issue but I will check. I am glad you got yours all worked out. Welcome back too.
ReplyDeleteJulia,
ReplyDeleteI think we all have missed you and happy you are feeling like your old self and are returning to blogging! Especially happy to hear you have more free time!!! I hope you have even more soon.

It's good to see you back again! (I haven't been blogging much either this winter) I'm sorry you were so sick! It seems like this winter, the sickness is hanging on for a long time. Glad you're finally feeling better and your computer and car issues are solved. Looking forward to enjoying the longer daylight hours as well!!
ReplyDeleteOh, my sweet Julia you have really been having some issues. So sorry you were sick but happy you are now doing better. I missed you blogging although I am not doing a lot right now myself. I hope nothing but good things come your way now and the remainder of the winter months will be kind to you. Love and hugs
ReplyDeleteI love, love your blogs and missed them terribly while you were MIA. You life is much like mine growing up but so very different too. My daughter just came back from travels in Iceland and Scottland...she loved both and so did I as I read her updates and photos. I live in Phoenix, AZ a very dry and desert state so I envy your flower gardens and rain. However, I do love the desert just about as much as your flower gardens. Hope to see more posts and I'm sorry you were ill. Happy days are here again.
ReplyDeleteBlogger doesn't offer https for custom domains and that's what I have :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe they'll fix that in the future.
Hi Julia! Glad you are back to blogging! You've been through quite a bit in the past few months...I think that the added light each day will help to bring some healing energies to our winter weary minds and bodies! Enjoy your days! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh! And thank your for the https tip! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry you have been so ill and had so many other troubles as well!! Happily, sounds like you are on the mend, you got a new vehicle, and your computer issues are fixed!! Perhaps a small "happy dance" is in order?? Living in Arizona, we don't have to deal with all that cold and wet weather, but I do have to say that it has been chilly in the mornings! I think I have lived in warm places too long as 40 feels cold to me now!! I'm sending you some sunshine with this comment!!
Heart Hugs, dear friend~
Julie
Thank you for stopping by and saying hello : ) It's great to meet some fellow hookers and to see what everyone has going on. I'm glad to read you're feeling better. I hope this is the case for the remaining winter months!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and I'm so glad you're feeling better. Working in the healthcare field I can tell you that this has been a horrible winter for folks to get the flu. Here in the states it's been an actual killer for children and older folks. Most of my coworkers have had the flu even though we all had the shot..which did nothing to stop the flu. I've noticed the afternoon is staying a bit lighter later and I will welcome Spring this year with shouts of joy! I really don't hate the winter..just the darkness that comes with it. Take care Julia and don't work too hard! You are an amazing lady with all you do! I have friends who's families are farmers and it's a never ending work schedule but I'm so thankful to all farmers who provide the food we eat each day. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about all the trouble you have had. So thankful that you are feeling better and have posted. You are one amazing lady.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have missed you. I also ended up sick. All four of us got the virus. The good news was it took each of us at a different time, so we had someone manning the fort. I had a 102 temp! My husband missed two days of work, he had a 101 temp. It was just awful.
Sending hugs your way. I am glad you are back. Carla
Looks like we've come out of hibernation at the same time :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to "see" you again. I have missed you. So sorry about the miserable cold you had to deal with. It has been a horrible year all over this year with illness.
ReplyDeleteI'm frustrated with blogger. I can no longer post pictures from my phone and am having a hard time uploading photos from my laptop. It just makes blogging harder.
Yes, longer days. I thought that yesterday. It was 5:37 and it wasn't dark yet. YAY for winter hours becoming longer. It's hard to have so much dark.
Hope you have a wonderful week my friend.
Well, you know where I am, now. I don't know if this will go through. So many Blogger sites will not accept comments. The WordPress system is so much more secure, and there are real, live techs available to chat 24/7.
ReplyDeleteI know that I lost Google + right around the time I left Blogger. I am not sure what happened. I did drop Bloglovin' after being followed by a very questionable blogger. They have no way to block someone from following you. It was beyond creepy.
Anyway, I love you very much! HUGS.
Hi Julia, I am so glad you are getting "up to snuff" again...I have had the flu but on the mend. I think all of us will look forward to Spring and fresh air and more time outside. Hugs to you sweet gal...
