A Doctor Explains How to Make the Safest Face Mask

I thought I would share this video on how to make face masks out of Hepa vacuum cleaner bags.
This doctor's wife is showing how. Pretty ingenious.

So fare we are still OK and I hope everyone is all safe and well.
I'm enjoying this warmer weather and the snow is almost all gone from the yard. We still have a bit of where there were heavier snowdrifts and in the shade. I checked my blueberry bushes and I saw that the deers ate most of the branches on the first one. I can see their hoof prints in the garden. I see the eagles are carrying nesting material every day.

I've gotten pretty lazy from staying home but I'm keeping busy and so far I'm not yet totally bored.
I cleaned my dining room parquet floors on my knees. I did half of it yesterday and I finished the rest today. I have a bum shoulder with a loose socket so I'm being slow.  Soon I'll be able to clean the flowerbeds when it dries up a little, right now the soil is pretty soggy.

Stay cheery and well.
Hugs, Julia

  1. Our vaccuum is bagless and I gather the bags are yet another thing which has disappeared from our stores.
Deer? Eagles? Colour me a little jealous.
I am super impressed at your floor cleaning. It is something I need to do here (the down on the hands and knees version) and I have been putting it off.
    Stay well. Stay safe.

  6. I'm not very handy, but I think someone I know here in the canyon is making masks. Don't work too hard now that you are retired. Stay safe and well.

  8. Hi Julia,
Thanks for sharing about the mask! I made one the other day for my hubby but am not happy with it, so will try another one! So very sorry about your shoulder!! I totally empathize as I had Frozen shoulder for almost 18 months and it was AGONY!! Please try not to overdo and rest, heat and Ibuprofin really helped!! Take care, stay safe and stay well, my friend!

  11. Hi sweet Julia! I see many homemade masks around town and I hope they are helping. I'm glad you're back blogging! Our weather has been up and down in temps and sun. I'm looking forward to playing in the dirt as soon as it gets warmer! I did mow the yard last week and that was awesome! Please stay safe and we'll!

  13. Good Morning Julia,
I would love to see those eagles. That always just intrigues me. I will pray that the river stays in its bed this year. So nice to see and hear what is going on in your neck of the woods. Have a wonderful day.

  14. Hello Julia!!! I'm so glad you posted.
That sounds a good idea being able to make masks from hoover bags. It seems lots of people are making masks.
Oh no, the pesky deer, I am cross on your behalf! How mean of them to eat your blueberry leaves- of all the things they could eat! We have 2 blueberry plants now- both in pots- they are flowering so I hope we get blueberries this year! I've no danger from deer but the foxes (and possibly badger) are making me cross as they keep digging in my new raised bed, despite the garden canes I've placed over it to deter them! My peas are also stubbornly refusing to attach to my canes so I may have to rethink that. Grr!
I hope your shoulder gets better soon- that sounds painful and a kind of crucial limb!!
I will definitely share some more of my garden soon like you asked- I am hoping a few things might grow a bit more- I did share some photos around March 12th of my garden and also a few which I think you saw but more to come hopefully! I'd love to see some photos of yours.

  16. You have accomplished so much. I love the poinsettia . They are so inviting. I love anything Christmas.
The work you do on your yard is so much. I need about half of your energy.

Hope you are able to get your groceries. Stay safe.
