Now for a quick update on my Childhood Memories rug. To refresh your memory of my design, not knowing how it would all come together. I have found that hooking the different the scenes so it tells a story but still mesh into the whole picture a bit of a challenge but so far it is working OK.
As a kid, skating on small ponds was enjoyable even though my second hand pair of skates didn't fit properly, it kept me going around and backward and sometimes I would twirl and pretended that I was Barbara Ann Scott, the famous figure skater.
We had and old dog that pulled the sleigh up the field to the tree line and when it was time to turn back, he would race all the way home and we thought that it was so funny.
Sliding down the hills in an old toboggan was another of our winter pastime. It seems that we were always outdoors in the wintertime.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. JB
Love the stories behind your rug! It is going to hold so many memories for you! I enjoyed your posts the last couple of days on your family. Precious indeed your parents were. Love how they raised such a nice large and loving family. You are truly blessed Julia!

This rug is going to be a real treasure Julia. Are you are going to hang it on the wall like a tapestry? /deb
ReplyDeleteGee, I'm positive I left a comment last night but I must have forgot the last step. Duh! It is fun to hear all the memories behind each icon as you progress. Like Deb, I think it belongs on a wall eventually.
ReplyDeleteJulia your rug is going to be a real treasure. I can't believe how much you have done. Great job.
ReplyDeleteIn response to your comment on my blog - English is my only language and I don't understand half of what my grand children are saying these days! What's wrong with saying "I love you?" why use a symbol for that?
Thank you for responding to the blog, it is something that I feel very strongly about and I hope I didn't offend anyone.
Thanks everyone for leaving such nice comments on my blog. To answer your question about where I will put the rug, it is a mystery to me. It's just going to be a family heirloom and maybe displayed upstairs in the hallway. I'm not sure. I'm having fun pushing my boundaries of getting my ideas into a rug and I'm so happy to be able to share my progress with all of you.
ReplyDeleteDoris I don't feel offended in the least and you are absolutely right about loosing the english languages to abbreviations.
Hugs everyone, JB
Just lovely, I bet when you are hooking you can see all of that so clearly in your mind. It is so vivid when you write and Happy 86 blogging days.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to me how blogging has changed my life. The new friends I have made and how deeply it has made me care about people from all over the world. Congratulations
on your 25th follower!
That is a big deal! I know I never thought I would have one.
I hope you have a great day Julia
Thanks for your comment Farm Girl. I'm surprised that I can blog at all let alone do it daily. One never know where it will take you when you are invited to develop your abilities call talents. So far it has been a very positive growth for me.
ReplyDeleteI would have never got a big Canon camera if it wasn't for my blog. Growth comes one step at a time. Everything is good, it's how we use it that makes a difference. Have a great dat too. JB
Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to comment how more times than not I don't have anything to say either and I sit down just like you said and put my fingers on the keyboard and something happens. Lots of time too the thing I was going to say, never made it into the post.
I think like you and your Cannon camera, I would never do the things I have attempted since I started blogging. In a way, it is like I have become alive again. It has made me live dreams I thought were gone. Like writing everyday and taking pictures and making new friends. My husband says it is so fun because he says I am happier than I have been in years and I am so alive again. So I guess it is good, I know I do love being invited into peoples lives. So I am very glad you decided to blog.
I feel like I have been given a very precious gift. :)
Kim, (Farm Girl) we are kindred spirit like I said before. I enjoy reading your blog. there is so much caring and gentleness there.
ReplyDeleteI think what keeps me going is my sense of duty to others. JB
