I'M AT IT AGAIN

Thank goodness that it's getting cooler, I'm so ready for the Fall cooler temperature. This girl  just can't take the heat.

I'm at it again, I made another two batches of pickles. A batch of yummy Bread and Butter pickles and a batch of Mustard Pickles.  Here's a few pictures. Notice the huge jars. lol. And look what left of my Zucchini cakes.

Sorry  girls, I forgot to bring my camera to the barn twice today so I didn't take any photo of poor little Raspy. This morning he couldn't stand at all and flatly refused to suck. My son and I decided that it's best to either let him die peacefully or to have the vet put it to sleep. This afternoon he was up and drank a full bottle of electrolyte. God knows what tomorrow will bring. He's so skinny and tiny.  I talked to him and told him about people praying for him and dear Renee was sending him a big healing hug and I think he felt it.  Thanks Renee. I hope he's going to make it.
Today I had to take the time I would have worked on my rug to visit the mother of a friend at the funeral home  and tomorrow is the funeral. My poor rug is still waiting and waiting.   JB

  1. Good looking batch of pickles. And your rug can wait as I'm sure your visit to the funeral home was comforting to the family.
I'm hoping Raspy has a good morning tomorrow. Don't give up on him just yet - I have a suspicion he is a fighter.

  3. My computer is acting up so I hope I get this post finished before it clicks off. When folks all the way in NC care about Raspy, he has to be a fighter.
Julia, your food pictures make me so hungry - that bread especially! I worked more on my locker rug - it's going well. Soon I will get back to my wool rug hooking - it is still on the frame, waiting for me. I'm just glad I got my wool sorted and stored on shelves. I feel much better being somewhat organized.

  4. I woke up at 3:00am and couldn't get back to sleep as Raspy is on my mind.
Thanks so much Deb and Kim for your encouraging words of support about poor little Raspy. You're right, Raspy is a fighter. Although it doesn't make any economic sense to keep him alive as we don't get much money for for a bull calf and the buyers around here don't want to buy them until they weigh about 100 pounds and it would cost us more to keep him alive until he reaches that weight, but I don't like to play God with his life. And the thing is, the longer I care for him the more I get attached to the little guy.

Deb I hope that your computer is OK, sometimes it's the modem or router that causes the problem or the server. We were having an awful time with ours and now we're on fiber optic and have a modem and router all in one box as we have two computers in the office and it works so much better.
I'm glad that you're not giving up on your wool rug, it's beautiful.
Thanks again girls. I wish I could meet you both some day. JB

  6. Do you ever come to the US? Who knows, one day we might meet - it seems like we know each other already. I can't wait to see the picture and show it to Renee'. When I got home from work yesterday, she asked "How is he?" I said, how is who? "The baby Rassie". I told her he is still not feeling very good, but his momma told him about her hugs. She said "oh good". Come on Raspy - we are pulling for you!

Have you got to your rug binding yet? I can't remember if I said something about the way Deanne Fitzpatrick finishes her - she just hems the linen over to the back and stitches it down; no binding etc. That's the way I'm going to do my wall hanging, with a strip to put a dowel through on the top edge. later/deb
